UPCOMING ELECTRICAL ESTIMATING COURSE 2019

We are delighted to announce that we will be running an one day Estimating Course on Saturday 5th October in the Maldron Hotel Portlaoise (1 hour from Dublin City https://www.maldronhotelportlaoise.com/location/) from 9am to 4.30 / 5pm approx.

This course will cost €170 per person for AECI Members or €185 for Non Members.

SI No 251 of 2019 Sectoral Employment Order (Electrical Contracting Sector) 2019:

Statutory minimum pay, pension and sick pay entitlements for qualified electricians and registered apprentice electricians employed in the electrical contracting sector to come into operation on 1 September 2019. Please see link below for full terms and conditions.

The annual Electrical Trade Show is taking place on Wednesday 11th September 2019 in Citywest Hotel (Kingswood Suite), Saggart, Co. Dublin from 10am to 6.30pm.

Entrance is FREE OF CHARGE so please feel free to spread the word to your colleagues and suppliers..! There will be Tea, Coffee and Biscuits sponsored by WEEE Ireland.

We will have hands on demonstrations by Safe Electric and Technical Seminars which will take place throughout the day (including IS10101 New Wiring Rules update).

The Labour Court has made it’s decision (see link below) however AECI have been on to them seeking a more detailed explanation of the full terms and conditions.

Briefly it looks like a 2.7% increase from September 2019 across the board (electricians & apprentices)with Pension & Sick Pay included.  The Minister Pat Breen now brings this to both houses of the Oireachtas for approval before signing it into law, which could take some weeks.

The Labour Court has responded to our submission in respect of a Sectoral Employment Order (SEO) for the Electrical Contracting Industry (please see full letter below).

The Labour Court will hear all parties “… appearing to the Court to be interested and desiring to be heard” at a sitting as indicated below:

TIME: 11.30am

VENUE: THE LABOUR COURT, LANSDOWNE HOUSE, LANSDOWNE ROAD, BALLSBRIDGE, DUBLIN 4.

Letter from Labour Court re hearing Thursday 14th March

 

Following receipt of a request pursuant to Section 14 of the Industrial Relations (Amendment) Act 2015, and having had regard to the provisions of Section 15 (2) and (3) of the said Act of 2015, the Labour Court hereby gives notice of its intention to conduct an examination of the terms and conditions relating to remuneration and any sick pay scheme or pension scheme applying to workers in the Electrical Contracting sector.

This could result in a recommendation from the Court for the making by the Minister of a Sectoral Employment Order under Section 17 of the said Act of 2015. Such an Order could provide for legally enforceable minimum terms and conditions of employment in the sector.

Any person wishing to make representations in the form of a written submission in relation to the examination should do so by 5.00p.m. on or before 6 February 2019. Any such representations should be sent by post to The Secretary, The Labour Court, Lansdowne House, Lansdowne Road, Dublin 4, or by E-mail to info@labourcourt.ie.

Representations received after that date shall not be considered.

The Court, following receipt of submissions, may decide to convene a hearing of parties appearing to the Court to be interested and desiring to be heard.

The course starts at 7.45am sharp & finishes 5pm approximately.  Candidates attending safe pass must have an Irish PPS Number and good knowledge of the English language.

Candidates will need to bring along their PPS number, photo ID and a passport photo also.

 The cost of this course to AECI Members is €100.00 per person OR €110.00 for Non Members (this includes your Safe Pass Card).
